Carol Hawn, Western Fairfax County Citizens Association board member, and Alice Webb, of the Arts Council of Fairfax County, selected the entries for acceptance and placement in the calendar.
Contributing artists include Mary Moon, Velma Orrick, Amy Mann, Robin Rosner, Angela Lubinecky, Dorthy Steranka, Carolyn Figueiredo, Annette Tait and Beth Latture.
The calendar titled The HeART of Centreville, features scenes of St. Johns Church, The Stone Church, Walney Pond, St. Timothys Church (circa 1970), Mt. Gilead House, the Rock Quarry, traffic merging onto Route 66, the bluebells at Bull Run Regional Park, the silo at Centre Ridge, an old barn on Braddock Road and a view of the foothills. A 16-month calendar, it runs from September 2005 through December 2006.
CRAG member Velma Orrick has accepted the task of laying out the artwork for each calendar page, which includes the artist's name and the title of the piece, as well as the calendar grid, listing of holidays and featuring information about the artist and the significance of the subject matter.
Carolyn Figueiredo put together quotes from past artists for each page.
Many members solicited support from local businesses for this effort, and the businesses are acknowledged in the calendar.
Providing the vision and drive-force behind the project, CRAG president Angela Kleis worked with the Centreville Community Foundation to obtain seed money for the effort to get started.
